Getting Started Tutorial
Follow these steps to turn your drop buyers into members.
Step 1 — Install Retinue
Install Retinue from the Shopify App Store. Grant the requested permissions — Retinue needs order, customer, and product access to build your buyer graph.
Step 2 — Complete Onboarding
The onboarding screen will guide you through:
- Naming your first drop
- Selecting which products belong to the drop
- Setting a launch window (optional)
Step 3 — Review Your Buyer Graph
Open the Buyers tab. You will see each buyer, how many drops they have purchased from, and their current tier. Retinue automatically resolves identity even for guest checkouts and different emails.
Step 4 — Set Up Tiers
Go to the Tiers tab and create rules like:
- "Silver" — purchased 2+ drops
- "Gold" — purchased 5+ drops or spent $500+
- "VIP" — purchased every drop in the last 6 months
Step 5 — Create Perks
In the drop detail screen, enable early access for Gold and VIP tiers. Retinue generates unique discount codes for eligible buyers automatically.
Step 6 — Connect Klaviyo (Optional)
Go to the Klaviyo tab, enter your Klaviyo private API key. Retinue syncs tier events and maintains segments so you can trigger email flows when a buyer levels up.
Step 7 — Launch a Subscription Box
In the Boxes tab, curate products for your top-tier buyers and set up a recurring subscription through Shopify Selling Plans.
